Fight Mechanics
Lord Rhyolith starts with 80 stacks of Obsidian Armor
This reduces his damage taken with 80% (1% for each stack).
Everytime Rhyolith steps on an active volcano , his stacks will decrease
Your goal is to move Rhyolith in all active volcanoes and DPS him down
You can move Rhyolith by either DPS’ing his right leg or left leg
Rhyolith will wipe the raid when you accidently move him in the lava

The assignments are the following:
Tanks
Rhyolith cannot be tanked, he runs automatically.
The tanks be ready to pick up all the adds that spawn continuously
One tank with the raid, one tank outside the raid
Tank the small adds in the middle
Tank the big AOE’ing Spark away from the raid
Melee and Ranged DPS
All melee DPS will DPS the legs of Rhyolith (coordinate on vent)
All Ranged DPS stack in the middle and DPS all the adds first
Healers
Raid damage is high within this fight, Tank damage is low
Damage is critically high when adds spawn, so prepare
Healers stick together in the middle
In 10-man normal difficulty: 1/2 tanks, 3/4 healers and 5 DPS;
In 25-man normal difficulty: 1/2 tanks, 6/7 healers, 17 DPS

Pull Rhyolith and start DPS on his left leg
Make sure he does not reach the outer circle, else he will wipe the raid
Never let him run in a straight line, unless you’ll have to
Keep him circling around the middle as much as possible
Volcano Mechanics
Volcanos will spawn that are inactive
Some of these volcanos become active, move Rhyolith through them
Use the meter to coordinate his movement
Rhyolith steps into a crater , this will reduce his armor
Continue same routine

Rhyolith uses the following abilities
Volcanoes
Rhyolith will spawn volcanos
The volcanos will erupt, dodge this damage
Some volcanos will become craters which erupt, dodge this damage
Damage from volcanos is manageable (not high!)
Best advice: stick together as much as possible for healing
Concussive Stomp
Rhyolith will cast stomp (see warning)
At 0.0 seconds everybody jumps up to dodge all damage
Stomp damage is manageable and dodgeable
Molten Armor
Rhyolith gets a buff called Molten Armor whenever he walks on an active volcano
The buff is removed everytime he casts another ability

Rhyolith releases jets of cinders that inflict 15k (low dmg)
This is called Thermal Ignition and spawns adds (see below)
Small Adds
Rhyolith will cast Thermal Ignition which spawns 5 small adds
One tanks tanks these adds in the middle with the rest of the raid
DPS these adds down within 30 seconds (else they explode and kill people)
These adds get and deal more damage the longer they are alive
The small adds are high kill priority (higher than the spark)
Some melee needs to help to kill these adds when they spawn (call on vent)
Spark of Rhyolith
Rhyolith sometimes summons a big add called Spark of Rhyolith
This add is very dangerous and does very high AOE dmg
The AOE damage will often cause lots of deaths/wipes. To deal with this:
Immediately misdirect the big add to a tank standing away from the raid
Everyone move away from this add immediately
Ranged DPS quickly DPS this big add down

Rhyolith will move to phase 2 at 30%
Stop DPS at 32% and wait until his stacks of Molten Armor
run off
Stack up in the middle and DPS him to 30%
Liquid Phase
Rhyolith will turn into a fire golem
He does huge amounts of AOE damage
Blow cooldown and AOE Heal everyone up
Rhyolith needs to be tanked during this phase
Bloodlust and DPS him down

People get hit by volcanoes and die
This is mostly caused because people do not stick together in the middle and move out or ranged of healers. People should not run around the platform. They should only move when they will have to dodge some kind of damage (for example: when they need to dodge a volcano).
Adds kill people
This happens when people get hit by the AOE of the Spark while being low on health (because they got hit by another ability). To counter this people need to get out of the path of the Spark of Rhyolith fast. Make sure you’ll have a tank that picks up the add immidiately.
Rhyolith moves to the edge and kills everyone
This happens frequently. It is hard to control Rhyolith: his legs do not respond very fast. Make sure that someone on ventrillo coordinate his movements. Make sure that DPS sticks to one leg as much as possible (for example left leg) and only move to the right leg when they’ll have to. Make sure that Rholith never runs in a straightline for no reason: you may not have enough time to turn him.
Rhyolith kills everyone in Liquid Phase (below 30%)
The damage of Rhyolith in phase 2 with stacks of Molten armor is huge. Never let Rhyolith move to phase 2 with stacks of Molten Armor, else you will wipe. Wait for his stacks to run off and then move him to phase 2 (Liquid Phase). Always be stacked up before phase 2 starts.

The journal had the transition at 25% on live. Just an FYI.
You can actually one tank this fight on 10man. If you have a lot of ranged that is. You can stack all the sparks and Fragments together and have Ranged Kill the adds.
If you’re melee heavy, you may want to use two tanks and have the ranged focus the Spark and the melee focus the Fragments (as the melee can’t get close to the Spark).
This is a 25 man strat on a 25 man raiding web site AlexB
If you look at the pictures that they posted and the video, it is done in 10 man. Nice try Squid.
Lol didn’t watch the vid. Just rad the strat. Foot in mouth:D
You think I choice to stand in lave?
This fight is actually not that all difficult. The secret to controlling Rhyolith is the number of hits on his legs. The amount of damage you do to his leg has no effect on his movements. It’s only the number of hits per minute on his leg that matters.
Our melee made sure to use the ability that costs the least amount of energy or rage and spammed it on whichever foot needed to turn. So, for a sharp right I (a feral dps) basically spammed Rake, Mangle, and Ferocious Bite. These abilities require the least amounts of energy to get Rhyolith to turn.
A word of caution–keep him away from the edge of the island. Whenever there was an active volcano near the outer edge of the island we just made him turn right some distance from the edge, so his left leg stomped out the volcano and he stayed away from the lava.
